Extended Abstract Submission

Material and Beyond:

On the Spectrum of Meaning in Materiality

AR+DC 2026 Symposium invites contributors to explore the transformation of material knowledge under two themes: technical-practical and symbolic dimensions. We welcome abstracts that engage with its implications for architectural thought and practice amid technological acceleration.

Symposium Sub-Topics:

• Technical-Practical: Material's role as mediator of environmental forces and its functions

• Symbolic: Material's role as sign in relation to cultural, perceptual, and representational dimensions

Important Dates

1. Abstract Submission Opens: 25 July 2026

2. Abstract Submission Closes: 5 September 2026

3. Notification of Acceptance: 12 September 2026

4. Symposium D-Day: 9 November 2026

Submission Requirements

• Contributors must submit an extended abstract (minimum 1,500 words)

• The extended abstract should consist of:

  • Introduction,

  • Theory/research methods,

  • Results and discussion,

  • Conclusion section.
